Who We Are

What We Stand For

What We Stand For

The Montana Short Term Rental Association is a statewide coalition of property owners united in the fight to protect our rights, freedoms, and livelihoods. From short-term rental hosts to ranchers and small business owners, we are Montanans who believe in the principles of independence, personal responsibility, and local control.

Our members are proud contributors to Montana’s economy and communities, providing jobs, supporting small businesses, and preserving our state’s rich heritage. MSTRA  was established to ensure that property owners have a unified voice in shaping policies that affect their land and livelihoods.

What We Stand For

What We Stand For

Property Rights: Defending the fundamental right to manage and use private property without excessive restrictions.

Economic Opportunity: Highlighting the contributions property owners make to Montana’s economy, including tax revenue, job creation, and support for local businesses.

Local Control: Advocating for solutions that reflect the unique needs of Montana communities rather than one-size-fits-all regulations.

Personal Responsibility: Promoting responsible practices among property owners to ensure good relationships with neighbors and sustainable land use.

Why We Exist

What We Stand For

Why We Exist

Recent efforts to impose sweeping regulations on property use—particularly short-term rentals—threaten not only individual freedoms but also the economic lifeblood of our communities. Misguided policies, often influenced by those who don’t understand Montana’s values or way of life, risk stifling growth and opportunity for everyone.

The Montana Short Term Rental Association exists to push back against these threats, offering a strong, unified voice for property owners across the state. We are here to protect what makes Montana great: our independence, our resilience, and our ability to thrive without unnecessary interference.
